The board is telling me it is Melanie's birthday! Happy birthday! We will all raise tiny bottles of heroin in your honour. I hope you are having a good day.

:rainbow: Dark and rainy!

:totem1: Yesterday someone asked me if I wanted to sign a card for a coworker and I said sure - her last day is coming up soon. But then as I was about to draw something goofy and write "Good luck out there!" I noticed that people's comments were not very upbeat - It turns out the girl's mom died and it was a "Sorry for your loss" card. Luckily I had not just plunged in with my message.

:pirate: The IT Crowd is very funny.
:book: Slaughterhouse Five is great.
:drawing: With my brother's visit, and post-brother recovery, my drawing for the week is shot.

:qotd: Weekend plans? Fridates? Condo viewings?

Haha, thanks! Although this makes me think it is time to change my avatar....

:qotd: We were going to go see this play, Astro Boy and the God of Comics tomorrow, but this weekend sold out pretty quickly. Fortunately they added another week to the (very short) run, so we are going next Saturday. It's been a long time since I've seen live theatre, and this sounds like it's a pretty unusual presentation, but all the reviews have been good, so I'm a bit excited to see it.

Oh also tomorrow I have my third CSS class session. My German class got cancelled for the spring since there weren't enough participants, which is bad because it means it's a whole year before German 1B is offered again, but good because it meant I could take CSS now instead of waiting for the summer. The class has been going pretty well and I've definitely got a much better grasp on the overriding theory than I ever got from trying to teach myself with books and tutorials. But there is this guy in the class who is constantly interrupting the teacher with unrelated comments and stories and it's really slowing down the pace of the class. I was thinking about taking another programming class right after this one since the courses run really short and compact, but now I think I will wait anyway just to minimize the chance of that guy being in my class again.

Happy birthday Melanie! Here's hoping no one interrupts any festivities you have going on today!

My showing went OK! No offer, but the guy viewing it seemed to like it enough to see the storage locker, parking spot and various amenities. Let's hope something comes of it.

:totem1: It's gotten kind of boring around here after a hectic morning. Hurray for the internet!

:pirate: It sure is. Like most british sitcoms, I wish there were more episodes per series, but realize if that wish were ever granted I'd probably grow to loath it.

But hey, more Community next week! Yes!

:qotd: My weekends are becoming predictable aren't they? But hey, we're doing condo viewings in New West and Vancouver this weekend! Variety!

This is going to make me sound like I wear a tin foil hat, but we've borrowed a EMF meter from BC Hydro (the provincial power supplier) to test potential suites for EMF radiation and stuff. Turns out BC Hydro rents them out for free! With all of the overhead power lines and canisters and power stations and such around, Nina's concerned about it's effects on human health. There's evidence supporting the concern, but of course no one wants to admit it since most cities would suddenly be branded as health hazards. So it's going to be fun in a nerdy kind of way to see how much juice various lines and houses and junk spit out and if there's any concern at all.

Yeah if we watch a british show for a week or two, that is pretty much all the series done!

:qotd: I think tonight we may watch the movie Submarine, which was directed by the guy who plays Moss on the IT Crowd.

Regarding the EMF meter: Manien's sister is a naturopathic doctor, so she is all over things like that. She brought a meter to our house to scan the place and then was disappointed because despite the computers and all the cords, our readings were not bad at all.

:totem1: It's gotten so quiet here. Some Reese peanut butter cup minis got me past my mid-afternoon doldrums.

Happy B-day to Melanie!

:pirate: I'm a big IT crowd fan. "The Work Outing" is one of my favorite episodes of anything ever. Even though it uses some seriously cheap jokes, the overall thing comes together so damn well.

Best. Toilet. Humor. Ever.

Have you guys seen Friday Night Dinner? And Fresh Meat?

Those are two newish brit-coms that you should check out. (FND is being turned into an American show currently, apparently.)
