I built this thing as an x-mas present for a friend (who doesn't frequent this board, so I can post it here without ruining the surprise). I'm not sure to what extent this is a gag gift and to what extent it's genuinely useful, but I do know that I had a BALL putting it together.

Allow me to introduce . . .

Tired of having to pull a whole gaggle of people out of your brain? Tired of looking at photos that never have quite the right angle (or you're just sick of working from 2-d ref?

It has adjustable pegs for different attitudes:

And a mutli-level stand for bird's eye and worm's eye elevations:

You can even trade out the backdrop photo and have them in the woods, or on mars, or medieval germany, or wherever! Is there ANYTHING it can't do!

(well, it can't have too many girls in it right now, because girl action figure heads are way more rare and expensive than boy action figure heads)

So whaddya think? Stupid? Awesome? Both?

Stupidly awesome. With a little refinement and a reasonable price tag, I'd buy one!

That's fantastic JCM! I think my favourite part is the gorgeous hand-lettering on the box, it looks fantastic!

Thanks, Jess, but it's a bit of a cheat. I drew half the frame and curlicues, scanned it and flipped it to get the whole shape (except for the intertwining scrolls near the bottom), and then used photoshop's bend text tool to letter the thing. Then I printed that out in really light red ink, hand inked it (w/ some minor embellishments), and scanned it back in.
