I liked the Daredevil annual from a week or two back.

If you can get it, I'd go with the bigger editions. I have all of those three-in-one versions, but they art can be a little too small, and now I want to get the big ones. I plan on keeping those for lending copies.

They do have both versions at the bookstore here. I was planning on going with the 3 in one editions just because they're way cheaper and hardcover, but I can totally see myself buying those and then wishing I had the bigger paperback editions....

I totally expected the same thing, as I barely picked up the 3-in-1 because of it's size. Surprisingly, I got used to it.

Goddamn, All-Star Superman is so fucking good.

Also I picked up the new League of Extraordinary Gents and Queen and Country trade. I tried to get the back issues between the end of the last Iron Fist trade and the current issue, but, alas, it was not to be. And no Lobster Johnson #3. Sara snagged Scott Pilgrim v. 4., though.

It was the most expensive comics run in many months.

Now, I've never really read a Superman comic before, but I have a hard time understanding how anything involving him directly could be amazing instead of just boring. What's so good about this All-Star Superman?

Grant Morrison takes a Superman stripped of all continuity and just produces these single-issue stories with grandeur and heft and weird ideas that aren't just weird for weird's sake, but are used to try and dig down and find out the actual interesting stuff at the heart of this mythic character. Suddenly his superpowers inspire a sort of cinematic awe. The first issue starts with him going to save astronauts from a bomb on their spaceship -- a spaceship bound for the heart of the sun. It just gets bigger and awesomer from there. If there's anything worth saving about this boring-ass character, Grant Morrison has found it and written it an ode.

I hear they are not releasing this outside of the States. What the hell.
Any Vancouver folks seen smuggled copies around?

I thought this was just true of the UK? Anyway, Diamond should still ship it, and you can order it through Amazon .com(though not Amazon.co.uk)

Jeff, I'm the same way about Superman. I'd basically never read a Superman comic and have no attachment to the DC side of things at all. But it's Morrison and Quitely so you know it's going to be awesome. Definitely give it a shot, it's a joy. Superman as science fiction hero!
