A couple message boards ago we had a thread like this, where folks could post the comics and drawings they did when they were little lads and lasses. I couldn't find my folder of old art back then so I didn't get to post any, but I recently unearthed it. Let the carnage begin!

In the 1980s, 'Nam was still a big deal. Movies like First Blood, about traumatized ex-soldiers, were everywhere. Marvel Comics even had a comic book about it. So I guess it's natural I would draw it when I was ten?

Here's one of my earliest comics, I think. White Township was the name of my school. I suppose we sang "Death of David" by Honegger in '85, and David Kern must be one of my classmates.

I had two great loves when I was ten. The first was GI Joe:

The second was Transformers:

Haha. Nice work, Tim. Why was Vietnam written in brackets so many times? Echo effect? I hope Blaster doesn't ever have to punch somebody, or touch his toes.

Oh man, when I get back home to Syracuse I am going to ruin this thread with so many bad comics.

I have two sketchbooks and an actual honest-to-God fantasy adventure dating from the early 1980s in storage back in the States. Wish I had access to them now! (And a scanner.) Some of it is pretty cool, some of it is howlingly lame.

Here are a few select microsoft paint comics. I did TONS of these when i was 13 or 14, so about ten years ago. They were the first comics I ever put on the internet because this was before I ever had access to a scanner. I had about a dozen crappy tripod websites full of these. The really awful thing is that the ones I'm posting here are THE BEST OF THEM.

At some point in high school I discovered Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and so then I decided I was going to draw a comic book and send it to Slave Labor Graphics. I think I only drew about six pages. I finally had a scanner and a pirated copy of photoshop. Only my own short attention span could stop me! The comic was called "Headboy" and I honestly can't remember what exactly it was going to be about. I think it had something to do with toilets and poop and the first issue ended with headboy going to hell.

First two pages:

I think I skipped to the end of the comic and inked the last few pages of "issue 1" at some point too:
