Today is the anniversary of Manien and I getting married - four years, yay! Before we realized this I had already made a date with :ed: to see a preview of a certain movie. So we had a nice dinner and champagne last night instead. Quail and risotto!

:skull: :wine: :moonshine: :booze2: :pinkdrink:
:rainbow: It is still cloudy outside. Will it rain again?
:pirate: Watched an odd little movie last night called Happy Tears, starring Parker Posey, Demi Moore and Rip Torn. It was made by Mitchell Lichtenstein, son of Roy.
:drawing: Barely did any. Though I did plan out the paging for a collection of short stories I'm putting together.

Yesterday M and I were out for lunch at Lonsdale Quay and this hawk flew by, chased by seagulls. It soon landed on the railing at the top of these stairs that are a tourist lookout, and these tourists came up and took pictures anyways. It let them get surprisingly close to it, and more tourists kept coming up, and seagulls would periodically dive at it. We were getting quite anxious as these two boys got up there and pushed even closer to it, thinking that it was going to end with someone getting an eye clawed out or something. But then it flew away and everything was okay.

I sent Ellen and Hanna off to the first day of school today. Hanna picked out her outfit last night, and it featured a Jess Fink shirt, so I think we're raising her right. Ellen looked good in her new outfit too. Shopping for a high school teacher can be hard! Seems like people manufacture women's clothes that are either exciting (not a great idea for the situation) or dumpy (not good for your confidence). But she's got some real winners in her new wardrobe.

Got my physical therapists bill over the weekend. Apparently the co-insurance payment I make every visit does not actually cover my obligation for the visit as I'd been lead to believe, and I have racked up $500 in bills. That BITES. And is a bit shitty of them, I think. It's like you've been buying a cup of coffee three times a week and paying for it, and then three months later they send you a bill for the extra $5 per cup you owe them but never knew about. WTF?

It was a good weekend, though.

:drawing: I'm painting today, and am a bit intimidated about getting started. Need to make sure this isn't one of those days I spin my wheels for hours but don't actually do anything.

Happy anniversary, :jto: ! I hope you two spend many more enjoyable years together.
:jcm: How about business sharp for Ellen? I can understand how good ones can't be cheap, though. Sucks to the medical bills, though. Make more money doing art!

I don't have to go to :totem1: until Thursday, so I'm going to be :drawing: until I finish this Cloudscape anthology submission. See you guys Wednesday night.

:vidja: Almost done my 6-week challenge on EA Active Plus
:food: Worst. Vegan. Ever.
:coffee: Cold & old. Need hot & new.
:peen: Ditto. :winky:
:drawing: What am I doing on the internet?!?
:rainbow: Overcast here too. Could need some rain, honestly.

No snark intended here: déjà vu. Did you post about this earlier?

Slogging through a major translation assignment today, and realizing I need to change my work patterns because I am a major procrastinator. If I'd been industrious earlier, I could have avoided the stress of trying to finish the damn thing on time while the household goes to hell around me. But I am soldiering through and in ten minutes I begin the final assault.

If I don't make it, tell my :peen: I love it.

Oh man, I hope not, but maybe I did. I got a bill for $350 a bit back, and then got the $500 one this past weekend (even though I've not been to see them between the two bills). My apologies for being a git if I already posted this!

No accusations of gittery flung, good sir. Just couldn't remember if this was the same annoying development or a fresh one.

Y'know how in cheesy action movies it's pretty clear this is the dude's last stand, so he just chills and smokes a cigarette for a few minutes, then starts running and tosses the cigarette aside before diving into the melee of assorted villains, assassins, and other bad guys and you just know he's gonna kick ninety kinds of ass whether the movie shows it or not?

That was my translation session just now.

Fuck yeah.

Hey, dudes! How's it hanging? It's my day off and so far we've been having fun. Got my work stuff out of the way early so the rest of the day will be :peen: about, cleaning and a lil :drawing: :drawing: :drawing: .

:jcm: I hate clothes shopping with Ol' Kate. Her deal is her GIANT boobies. She doesn't like to show them off at all so she leans more towards XL mens dress shirts for work but that just makes her look dumpy. It's an up hill battle. And don't even get me started on bra shopping. AKA: HELL.
:coffee:  Drinking some Tecate but should be drinking coffee.
:drawing: Got an idea ready to go.
:turd: Too much salsa last night it seems.

:totem1: :skull:

:unders: Should I zip home after work to put on non-work clothes for my date with :ed: ? Hm.
:rainbow: It rained just a little. Seems kind of unsettled out there.

:qotd: Do you like shopping for clothes with your significant other? Or do you like shopping for clothes period?

Manien and I always go our separate ways to clothes shop, I guess because we have different styles of shopping. When I am on a good roll I can buy a pile of clothes in 20 minutes, whereas she tends to need more time to poke around.

:jdg: I may have suggested this before, but Manien's attitude to bras totally changed once she went to the fancy bra shop where they were really helpful and keep her measurements on file etc.

Re: Ladies' Clothes: As far as nationwide chains go, I really like New York & Co. They carry a nice blend of trendy, classy, business clothes for reasonable prices. Also, they are one of the few places that carries slacks in a variety of lengths, which for some reason are nearly impossible to find in women's clothes (I guess only men come in different heights?). While I don't have any particular experience shopping for larger bras, myself and everyone I know who has had a professional fitting has benefitted from it. It is more expensive, but the bras last typically 3 times longer (while being more comfortable), so it works out the same in the end.
I only like clothes shopping if I am in the correct mood for it. And I almost never like shoe shopping. Between hard to fit feet and being picky about style, it rarely goes well. I like shopping with other people as long as they like shopping with me. I guess that's kind of an obvious answer. But I mean, we all have to get new clothes sometime, so why spend the whole time being grumpy about it to the person who is with you?
