:totem1: Boy, my boss and my neighbour's boss are getting all in each other's :turd: over this big project. My neighbour and I feel like kids whose parents are fighting and heading for divorce. Mom, dad! Stop fighting!

:skull: I woke up at 5am, startled awake by a dream. I sighed and tried to soothe myself thinking ah at least it is Saturday. And then realized it was only Friday and the horror shocked me fully awake. I decided to get up and draw.
:drawing: So I drew for an hour or so.

:unders: Manien and I may go downtown tomorrow to the fabric store and find some fabric for her to make a bathrobe for me. The one I have currently is too cozy and warm for summer use.

:qotd: Weekend plans? Seen any good movies or tv shows lately?

:totem1: :turd: -- sorry to hear about that, Jason.

:qotd: weekend plans are not going well . . . . But :pirate: has been pretty good. Watched a couple episodes of "Foyle's War" which is a detective show set in Britain during WWII. The female lead is just cute as a button. It's partly the character, partly the actress, but Ellen and I just couldn't stop talking about how cute she was. Then it turns out the actresses name is Honeysuckle Weeks, which is just too cute to be believed.

I think Ellen felt a bit one-upped by Miss Weeks' parents, as she considers herself queen of the cute girl names (amongst our daughters middle names you will find sunshine and valentine).

:drawing: I painted all day yesterday. It was awesome. I met a buddy for a matinee showing of Brave, and he kinda flattered me about yesterday's paintings, so I feel all fluffed up now. Plus, got to see Brave again, which is a simple gorgeous film.

I've now seen it in 2- and 3- D. There's one shot in 3-D which is a huge environment shot of the girl climbing a cliff, and in 3-D she somehow looked like a tiny doll on a modest rock face, but in 2-D she looks like a normal-size-person on a huge cliff. Weird.

There's still an aspect of the scripting I'm not in love with, but I've developed an increase appreciation for a tightness of the rest of the story I hadn't previously appreciated. A deceptively large number of narrative elements are drawn together quite elegantly in the end.

In other news, I am drinking rum right now, and have a decent little buzz, and I feel Faaaaaaaantastic.

:qotd: Going to Angela May's San Van Camic Can thingy to start my weekend tonight. I guess it's a little shindig for the comic people who aren't at SDCC this weekend. Tomorrow I'm going swimming at a pool in Richmond and then hosting a little games night after that for some friends.

:totem1: Today I pointed a budding Graphic Designer to the work of Jim Mahfood. I felt kind of awesome showing someone a wider world of awesome.

:rainbow: Super high and then clouds make the sun seem bright but dialled down a subtle notch.

Brave was awesome but it was the first one I've seen where the plot was pretty damn good but had a few threads that needed tying up.
Spoiler:
Like why was there an establishing shot of the crown being forgotten and then they do nothing with it! No recovery, no drama, nuthin'! Plus I thought the whole demon bear sub plot was thin and kind of unnecessary. Kind of a lacklustre villain that wasn't even a villain, just a cursed force of nature.

I'm taking the train to the party and some alcohol in a backpack. Yeah!
