:rainbow: incredibly hot and sunny today like it's been since the beginning of the week. In fact the weather is far better than it was during july/august… maybe the earth has moved on its axis or something ?

:vidja: in my quest to find a game i could play while the kid's around, i exhumed the old PS2 and shadow of the colossus (somehow i find it more acceptable to destroy gigantic stone-like monsters than shooting guns in GTA in front of a 4-year old …). a bit old but still good.
I've been watching to this new channel too called "nolife", and i enjoy most of it (it's a tiny independant channel, relying mainly on subscription, and dedicated to video-games, comics, mangas, japanese pop-culture…) most of the programs look very cheap, but they manage to do great shows…

:totem1: :rage:

:qotd: if you had to pick a new job, what would you like to do ?

Maybe! Our summer seemed to shift to August/September rather than July/August. Today it is sunny and cool again, which is just fine with me.

:drawing: Actually did some inking last night! Strangely what spurred me on to do it was discovering that the guy from the Nerdist podcast was on the WTF podcast. A meeting of the two podcasts I listen to! So I started inking to give myself a context to listen to that in.

:ipod: I was listening to a nice Mary Margaret O'Hara song this morning and thought how strange it is that she only ever did one album, then maybe a soundtrack. Such strange nice music.

:qotd: Just yesterday someone at my :totem1: was asking wouldn't I want to have a design job, and my answer was no, not really. I enjoy doing little design-y jobs for people but as soon as they get too nitpicky about it I have no patience at all. So my current mishmash of a job (a bit of data entry, a bit of design and photoshoppery) is fine for me. Limited stress, close to home, decent hours.
If not comics full time, this will do.

:qotd: I'd own a little cafe or something. I'd know all the regulars by name, have local artists on the walls, and just be low key and awesome.

:vidja: I don't have kids and I'm drawn to games that you could play with kids around. Most of the time. Looking forward to the new Zelda.

:skull: Jet lag woke me up at 4am and wouldn't let me drift back to sleep. Plus I think I've contracted something from the recycled air in the airplane. A regiment of vitamins, Cold FX and garlic are on the menu.

:rainbow: Crisp and cool this morning, but I haven't dug out any scarves yet.

:totem1: Really having trouble concentrating today.

sounds cool. I'd be afraid to own a bar though, and to have to deal with drunk angry guys…

i tend to be attracted to craftmanship, i think i'd like to build furniture or be a jeweller, or tailor even though i know nothing in any of those domain and have no particular interest for fashion…

I too am a fan of craftsmanship in pretty much all it's forms. If it's done really well, I'm impressed by it. Doesn't much matter what "IT" is.

:qotd: I could think of a number of different subareas of "illustrator" and "artist" I'd be happy to do, but that seems a copout to the question. . . . . . hmmmm . .. .. Oooh, I'd want to be some kind of scientist or engineer. Probably more engineer-y, building new types of stuff. This plan, like "Doctor" would probably require a time machine so I could go back and get enough schooling.

Manien and I sometimes imagined opening a bar and calling it Drinking by Numbers, inspired by Peter Greenaway's Drowning by Numbers. So it would be really densely decorated with interesting, beautiful things. And I guess you would order drinks by their number?

Though in reality it would be a lot more fun to design a bar/restaurant that you could go hang out in, than to actually run one.

:qotd: I actually would want to run a bar and try to make it a place for progressives and radicals to hang out. Obviously that would probably be easier in a big city.

:qotd: I wanted to run a bar. For a long time I wanted to run a used book shop. Also, when I was finishing my phd I was seriously considering running off to become a bartender in Lisbon. If I could pick any job I would say Lonely Planet or Rough Guide guide book writer. If I had to go realistic I'd say IT specialist.
